At the heart of the Long Corridor in the Summer Palace, an archway stands proudly. Inscribed on the sunny side is “Yun Hui Yu Yu,” and on the shady side, “Xing Gong Yao Shu.” “Yun Hui Yu Yu” depicts a world where palaces and colorful clouds shimmer in harmony, while “Xing Gong Yao Shu” suggests a divine realm protected by the stars. Known as the Pai Yun Gate, this gate spans an impressive five bays wide. It remains open to the public throughout the year, with access available around the clock.
