Pantuo Rock is located not far to the west of Meifu Temple, composed of two stones stacked on top of each other. The upper stone is flat on top and pointed at the bottom, seemingly unstable yet as solid as a rock, unaffected by annual typhoons, which is quite fascinating. Many tourists compete to take photos with it. On the rock, there are three characters ‘Pantuo Rock’ inscribed by the Ming Dynasty anti-Japanese general Hou Jiga, with an extra dot on the character ‘stone’. It is said that when General Hou inscribed the characters, the large stone swayed from side to side, on the verge of falling. He then added a dot to the character ‘stone’, and Pantuo Rock was firmly fixed in place. Guanyin’s Speaking Platform and Two Turtles Listening to the Law Stone are not far from here and can be visited on foot. Additionally, it is worth mentioning that in the evening, one can enjoy the magnificent view of ‘Pantuo Sunset’ by looking around the mountains and sea. The site is open all year round and is accessible 24/7. Important tips for visitors: Please do not climb onto the rock when taking photos and be aware of safety.
