West High Hill, located in the Pok Fu Lam Country Park on the western part of Hong Kong Island, stands at an elevation of 494 meters and is the fourth highest peak on the island. On the northwestern slope of West High Hill, there is a Dragon and Tiger Mountain viewing platform. Visitors can reach it by following the Summer Road westward to its end, where they can enjoy the sea view of the western part of Hong Kong Island. For sunset photography, the West High Hill viewing platform at the summit offers a better position and angle. Climbing to the top, one can have a panoramic view of Victoria Harbour, Lamma Island, East Lamma Channel, West Lamma Channel, and the South China Sea, which is truly spectacular. The opening hours are all year round, open all day, with specific business status depending on the daily opening conditions.
Must-see tips: 1. To secure a good position, try to arrive at the site at least 1-2 hours before sunset; otherwise, the viewing platform and the ridge to the west may be limited in space and may not accommodate too many people setting up tripods for photography. 2. West High Hill is at a higher altitude, and with no obstructions on multiple sides of the summit, the wind will be significantly stronger than on the ground, and the temperature is generally about 3-4 degrees lower than on the urban ground, especially with a rapid drop in temperature at dusk, so keep warm. 3. Avoid going up the mountain during unstable weather, as there is little large vegetation on the mountain, making it prone to lightning strikes.Pao Tai Shan – A Magnificent Viewpoint in Hong Kong
