Egret Paradise is located in Xi’ao Island, Taolin Town, Raocheng County, Chaozhou. In recent years, it has become the eye-catching ‘Egret Paradise’ due to the flocks of egrets. As the sun sets, a magnificent scene unfolds above Xi’ao Island known as ‘Egrets Returning to Their Nests’: flocks of egrets fly from afar to the Yongwei Mountain at the northwest corner of the bird island. From a distance, it resembles a mountain covered in white camellias, with some egrets pairing up, cuddling each other, some leisurely preening their feathers, and others nesting. Everything is so peaceful and harmonious.
On the island, a ‘Viewing Egret’ area will be established in the isolation zone, allowing visitors to enjoy the sight through telescopes and also to take small yachts around the island to appreciate the splendid ‘performances’ of the egrets on the sea. It is roughly estimated that there are tens of thousands of egrets living on Xi’ao Island. Tip: It is not easy to encounter the egrets at Egret Paradise; they are usually seen returning to their nests during the summer evenings when the sun sets. However, enjoying seafood by the beach at Zhe Lin is quite nice, although the prices are a bit on the high side, so be cautious of being overcharged.
