The Pazhou Pagoda is located in Pazhou Village on Xingang East Road in Guangzhou. Also known as the Hai’ao Pagoda, it is one of the eight scenic spots of Yangcheng in the Qing Dynasty. It has the reputation of ‘Pazhou pillar’ and is a cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong Province. The Pazhou Pagoda is an octagonal pavilion-style structure, built with blue bricks. It has an exterior of 9 levels and is divided into 17 floors inside, with a height of more than 50 meters. It is located in Pazhou, Haizhu District, Guangzhou. The diameter of the first floor is 12.7 meters, the side length is 4.95 meters, and the wall thickness is 3.97 meters. There are three doors. The north and south doors lead to the tower chamber on the first floor. The west door originally had brick steps leading to the tower chamber on the second floor (hidden floor). The steps pass through the wall and surround the flat seat style. From the second floor onwards, doors are opened on all four sides of each floor like a cross lane running through vertically and horizontally. Adjacent two floors are staggered to open doors. On other sides, there are no doors but niches as false doors. In the past, people could go up the tower to view the scenery. Now, due to the tilt of the tower body, the tower is also locked and people can no longer go up to enjoy the view.
