Peizheng Middle School is one of the best middle schools in Guangzhou. It was founded during the Guangxu period and has a history of more than one hundred years. It has cultivated a large number of talents. For example, Cui Qi, an academician of the two academies who won the Nobel Prize in Physics, and Xian Xinghai, a musician. It once enjoyed the reputation of ‘There is Nankai in the north and Peizheng in the south’.
Peizheng Middle School has many historical and beautiful buildings. First of all, the gate is very distinctive. The school gate was built in 1934. With upturned eaves and blue tiles, it is a typical Chinese style. The animal decoration on the top is in the shape of a dragon’s head and a fish’s tail, implying that a carp leaps over the dragon’s gate. Each tile has the word ‘Peizheng’. The front of the plaque reads ‘Peizheng Middle School’, and on the back is the school motto engraved ‘Be virtuous and upright’. The buildings inside Peizheng Middle School are also very beautiful. Generally, they are in a unified brick red color. Some teaching buildings were donated by overseas Chinese from various countries. For example, ‘America Building’ and ‘Australia Building’. These two buildings are also cultural relic buildings in Guangzhou. In addition, the long-history library is also worth a visit.Opening hours: Not open to the public.
