Pingxia Zhang, also known as Lingyan, is located in the Lingyan Scenic Area. Facing south, it is visible upon entering the South Heavenly Gate. Standing hundreds of feet tall and broad, with its cliffs towering into the sky, it is aptly described in Liu Fangyu’s poem ‘Pingxia Zhang’: ‘The sky-scraping cliffs overlook the meditation pass, dazzling cinnabar sands are perfect for casting a countenance. In confusion, I seem to have lost my way in the fairyland, with chaotic rosy clouds swirling around Mount Chicheng.’ The poem truly captures its grandeur and spirit. Pingxia Zhang is open all year round, accessible 24/7, with specific business hours subject to daily opening conditions.
