Pingxifu is located in the southeast of Changping District, Beijing. It is served by the Changping Line and the Beijing Subway Line 8, known as the Changba Link. According to ‘The Princely Mansions of Beijing’: During the Kangxi reign, the Crown Prince Yunreng was deposed twice and lived and was imprisoned in the vicinity of the Imperial Stud Farm and Xian’an Palace. In the late Kangxi period, to accommodate Yunreng’s descendants and numerous servants, a city was built south of Zhengjiazhuang Village in Changping.
In the first year of the Yongzheng era (1723), Yunreng’s second son, Hongxi, was ennobled as the Prince of Li and moved into the city of Zhengjiazhuang in May. In the sixth year of Yongzheng (1728), he was promoted to a higher rank of prince. In the fourth year of Qianlong (1739), Hongxi was found guilty, stripped of his princely title, and forbidden to leave the city. In December, he was removed from the imperial clan and confined in an orchard on the east side of Jingshan Mountain. Pingxifu, as a princely residence, only existed for 17 years. Later, the garrison stationed in Pingxifu was transferred to other places, and the residence was dismantled by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. However, the name has been used as a place name to this day. Wendu Water City has reconstructed a modern Pingxifu Princely Mansion on the site of the historical mansion. The princely mansion features high walls, a pair of Qilins on either side of the main gate, a Nine-Dragon Screen inside, and a moat and drawbridge outside. The opening hours and business status are subject to the daily opening conditions.Pingxifu – A Historical Residence in Beijing
