Pingyang Temple is located at the foot of Huolu Mountain, the source of Ruoye Creek, and was established in the fifth year of the Qing Kangxi era (1666). It was grand in scale, with the main halls spanning six sections and hundreds of side rooms, forming a massive architectural complex. During its peak, the temple was home to a thousand monks, making it one of the most famous temples in the Jiangnan region.
Over the years, due to the passage of time and weathering, most of the temple buildings have been damaged. Today, only one scripture storage building and a few side rooms remain. Despite more than three hundred years of dust and debris, the scripture storage building remains spotless. The temple was once converted into a tea factory, which would typically be filled with smoke and dust, yet the beams, rafters, and every corner of the building inside always remain as clean as the day they were built. There are no signs of insect damage or bird pecking, and even a single spider’s web is hard to find, making it a truly rare ancient temple that is ‘immaculate’. Visitors are always amazed by this phenomenon.

Over the years, many curious and mystery-seeking individuals have come to explore, but the mystery of Pingyang Temple’s dust-free nature remains unsolved. The temple is open all year round from 05:00 to 17:00.
