The Qi Jiguang Ancestral Temple is located on the east side of Fuqian Street, Penglai Pavilion. In the eighth year of Chongzhen in the Ming Dynasty, it was built to praise Qi Jiguang and was granted the title of ‘Table of Merit Temple’. The ancestral temple was renovated in 1687 (the 46th year of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty). In 1985, it was requisitioned by the state and fully restored. The Qi Jiguang Ancestral Temple is a three-entry courtyard ancestral temple-style building. There are three rooms in the gatehouse and the main ancestral temple respectively. They are all single-eaved brick and stone wood structures, covering an area of 595.1 square meters. The gatehouse faces west. The couplets engraved on the door leaves are ‘A grand ceremony for thousands of years, renowned for countless battles’. The horizontal plaque is ‘Power on the Sea’. To the east of the gatehouse is the antechamber. The antechamber faces west and has a front porch. On both sides of the front porch, 12 ancient weapons such as swords, spears, swords, and halberds are displayed. In the middle of the antechamber stands a screen with the portrait of Qi Jiguang hanging on it. Passing through the screen and leaving the antechamber is the main ancestral temple. The main ancestral temple faces south. Above the door hangs an engraved plaque with the words ‘Qi Wuyi Gong Ancestral Temple’. In the center of the main hall, there is a seated statue of Qi Jiguang in a warm palace. The four walls are inlaid with panels depicting Qi Jiguang’s life story. In the courtyard of the main ancestral temple, there is a ginkgo tree from the Ming Dynasty, standing tall and straight, shading the sky. To the east of the main ancestral temple is the back garden. The flowers and trees in the garden are lush. The tablets of loyalty and filial piety stand on the north and south sides respectively. In the southwest corner, there is a cypress tree from the Ming Dynasty, twisting and curling, standing alone proudly. Opening hours: Open all year round from 8:00 to 17:30.
