Qian Jin Zhai is situated within the Tianyi Pavilion Museum Garden. Modern scholar Ma Lian, who owned over a thousand Jin Dynasty bricks, named his collection room Qian Jin Zhai. He later donated these bricks to Tianyi Pavilion, which in turn dedicated a special room to display them, retaining the original name. The room contains donations from Ma Lian as well as other collectors, with some Jin Dynasty bricks on display. These bricks not only chronicle the long history of Ningbo’s city walls, from construction to demolition, but also document a wealth of other historical information. The entire structure is imbued with the essence of Jiangnan, representing a quintessential Zhejiang pavilion style. The opening hours are subject to the daily operational status.
