Qianjiangyuan National Forest Park is located in Kaihua County, at the junction of Anhui, Zhejiang and Jiangxi provinces. This is the source of the Qiantang River, the mother river of Zhejiang. It has lush valleys, clear mountain streams and waterfalls. However, due to inconvenient transportation, there are few tourists. If you want to get close to nature, relax and escape the summer heat, avoid the crowds on holidays and look for tranquility, or trace to the source, Qianjiangyuan is a good choice. Tourists who come for Qianjiangyuan generally take the source scenic area as the focus of their visit. This area includes two parts: Grand Canyon and Lotus Pond. When entering the scenic area, the first thing that catches the eye is the stone tablet of Qianjiangyuan Grand Canyon, where you can take a photo. The Grand Canyon scenic area mainly consists of viewing the Jikeng Waterfall (Shenlong Waterfall) with a drop of 130 meters along the footpath. Looking down at the panoramic view of the waterfall from above the plank road is spectacular. Returning to the exit and driving a few minutes is Lotus Pond. Here are the main attractions of the scenic area and also the most tiring part to walk. Walking on the green steps and paths in the mountains, there is the sound of streams accompanying all the way. Halfway, you can see the stone tablet of ‘Qianjiangyuan’ by the roadside. The higher you go, the smaller the sound of water is, and the closer you are to the water source. It is hard to imagine that the magnificent Qiantang River tide starts from this trickle. Along the way up, you will pass scenic spots such as ‘Source Well Waterfall’ and ‘Lying Ox Listening to Sutras’. Near the suspension bridge, there is a fork in the road. Turning right leads to the boundary stone tablet of three provinces, and turning left is Lotus Pond. Walking in the direction of Lotus Pond, you will soon see the green pool water of Lotus Pond. The later part of the journey is downhill, and you will pass through a rather lush forest. Calling it a ‘negative ion breathing area’ may be a bit exaggerated. However, after walking such a long mountain road, taking a deep breath of the fresh air in the forest is really refreshing.
