QiAo Island, connected to the mainland via the QiAo Bridge on the eastern coast of Zhuhai, is a necessary passage to Lingdingyang and the cross-sea bridge. With a rich history, the island boasts historical sites such as Su Zhaozheng’s former residence, Shawan ancient ruins, and Baishi Street, as well as natural scenic spots like the mangrove wetland protection area and QiAo Bay.
The island is not small in area, and it would take approximately 6 hours to walk around the entire island. However, the attractions are quite scattered, with considerable distances between them, making it nearly impossible to visit all by walking. It is highly recommended to rent a bicycle for touring the island. The cost for renting a bicycle on the island is approximately 10 yuan per day.
Baishi Street is said to have been built with the silver compensation from the British army after the local residents’ victory against the British invasion in 1833.
The mangrove wetland protection area, located in the northern part of the island, is an important attraction. It is home to a variety of fish and large crabs, and every winter, more than 100,000 migratory birds come here to overwinter. Additionally, QiAo Island’s green paths are worth exploring by bicycle, especially the wooden boardwalks in the wetlands, with green shade above and wetlands below, offering a cool breeze, making it ideal for cycling and sightseeing.

Essential tips: 1. Although cycling on the island is pleasant, as an island, its beach and water quality are not up to par and not worth staying overnight. 2.
