The Qingdao Art Museum focuses on collecting, researching, and displaying works of modern and contemporary artists, driving the comprehensive and coordinated operation of other functions. It is a modern art museum. The exhibitions mainly display artworks such as Chinese paintings, calligraphy, seal cutting, oil paintings, watercolors, gouache, and photography. It is located at No. 7, University Road, Qingdao. The series of building complexes surrounded by the unique yellow-tiled and red-walled traditional Chinese architecture are outstanding historical buildings in Qingdao. It is also a building that combines five religions in three courtyards and two compounds. It was built from 1934 to 1940. It was originally the site of the ‘Ten Thousand Character Society’ and is now the Qingdao Art Museum. With a three-entry layout, it gathers three different architectural styles of Roman colonnade, Chinese palace, and Arabic architecture here. It not only has historical precipitation and cultural thickness but also is a tourist destination with great viewing value. The building covers an area of 14,183 square meters and a total construction area of 4,108 square meters. In 2006, it was officially approved as a national key cultural relic protection unit in the sixth batch.
