Qingdao Mountain World War I Site Park is located at No. 26 Jingshan Road, being the site of the Far East battlefield during World War I. It includes the World War I Site Museum and the former site of Qingdao Mountain Battery. The park features a rugged terrain with numerous war scars and traces, rich in historical and cultural landscapes. It is a national key cultural relics protection unit and a national AAA-level scenic spot, established as a new landmark for Chinese military fortress culture tourism.
Qingdao Mountain Scenic Area, at an altitude of 128 meters and covering an area of 330 acres, offers beautiful mountain scenery. In spring, cherry blossoms bloom like rosy clouds, making it an excellent viewing platform within the city.
The Qingdao World War I Site Museum, located at the foot of Qingdao Mountain, is currently the first museum in China dedicated to the history of World War I. The former site of the Qingdao Mountain Battery, located on the south side of the mountain, is one of the well-preserved military fortress sites from the World War I period in Asia, constructed in 1899. Its grand scale, complex structure, and comprehensive functions make it a classic in military architecture.
Listening to the waves and watching the sea at Qingdao Mountain, reading the vicissitudes of life at the World War I site. A century has passed since the end of World War I, and though the smoke of war has long since dissipated, the contours of time can still be faintly seen. Standing on Qingdao Mountain, looking out to sea, hiking in the mountains, and enjoying the peaceful times; looking at the site, mourning the battery, reminiscing about history, and witnessing the memory of the city. The park is open all year round from 09:00 to 17:30; it is closed all day on Chinese New Year’s Eve.
