Qingdao Shell Museum is a privately-owned museum themed around shells, integrating shell research, collection, science education, and cultural tourism. It covers an area of approximately 2600 square meters and features a large beach T-stage. The museum is primarily composed of six sections: shell specimen display area, shell viewing area, children’s interactive area, science popularization area, shell product display area, and Shell Biology Research Institute. It exhibits more than 4260 types of shell (conch) specimens and over 130 types of shell fossils from the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Arctic Oceans, and more than 60 countries across five continents, representing five classes and 262 families. The collection and hardware facilities are among the top in China. Here, you can find the large clam with a diameter of one meter, the tiny sand shell that requires a magnifying glass to see, and the nautilus fossil from the Ordovician period, 450 million years ago. Opening hours are from 05/01 to 10/31 from 09:00 to 17:30; from 11/01 to 04/30 from 09:00 to 17:00.
