Qingdao World Horticultural Exposition Park, abbreviated as Qingdao Expo Park, is affiliated to Qingdao Expo Group. It opened to visitors on March 28, 2015 and is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction. The scenic area is located at the northwest foot of Laoshan Mountain, surrounded by mountains on three sides, and adjacent to Binhai Road in the east. It is a 10-minute drive from the seaside. The scenic area covers an area of about 187 hectares and is composed of two axes and six gardens, with a vegetation coverage rate of 71%.
Qingdao Expo Park has won heavyweight awards such as the Gold Award for World Design and Construction, the Annual Exhibition Award of the International Garden Tourism Award issued by AIPH (International Association of Horticultural Producers), the Luban Prize for Chinese Construction Projects, the Zhan Tianyou Prize for Chinese Civil Engineering, and the National Quality Engineering Award. It has been successively identified as a national ecological culture demonstration base and a cross-strait cultural exchange base in Shandong Province. In January 2016, the Shiyuan ecological tourism area with Qingdao Expo Park scenic area as the core was approved as a national ecological tourism demonstration area in Qingdao. The architecture and horticultural planning in the Qingdao Expo Park scenic area are all masterpieces. Colorful flowers, colorful foliage plants, and vivid green sculptures are scattered in an orderly manner. The colors change with the seasons, full of natural charm. The 100 characteristic and high-quality exhibition gardens at home and abroad condense the essence of horticultural culture from all over the world.
