The ancient Qingshan Temple, nestled among the pine and cypress on the western slope of Qingshan Mountain, is a temple dedicated to the king of the Jiao Kingdom, a vassal state established by King Wu of Zhou, and is always filled with the smoke of offerings and the sound of bells and chimes. Fayun Temple, founded during the Tang Dynasty, is named for the saying ‘The gods of the world number Fayun’. The temple houses numerous Burmese jade carvings of Buddhas, which are vividly shaped and brilliantly colored, making it one of the largest, most numerous, and most complete jade Buddha temples in China.
