Qingyun Cave

Qingyun Cave Scenic Area, located on the west bank of Foshan, is a naturally formed wonderland with picturesque landscapes of green mountains and clear waters. Within this area, the renowned Qingyun Cave Taoist Temple was established around the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, in or around 1894 AD. The temple is grand in scale and rich in cultural atmosphere, highly favored by Taoist followers. It is said that due to the embrace of the surrounding mountains and the convergence of springs along the streams, this place is considered a ‘paradise on earth’, as if imbued with an aura of immortality, and thus chosen as a sacred site for Taoism.
Qingyun Cave is famous for its ever-flowing streams and cascading waterfalls, which form its unique natural landscape. The Qingyun Cave Taoist Temple stands against the mountain, with the West River’s Spiritual Turtle Pagoda in front, backed by the Lotus Peak, flanked by the Tamed Lion Mountain and the Prostrate Elephant Mountain, with the Qianxi and Kunquan streams winding around and converging in front of the temple. The entire temple complex is situated on a peculiar and majestic terrain, shrouded in purple mist, earning it the title of ‘A Unique Taoist Venue in Lingnan’. It is open all year round from 8:00 to 17:00.
