Qingyun Rock is located on the hillside of Dawang Peak in Haojiang District, built against natural stone caves, with nearly a hundred historical cliff inscriptions, and is known as ‘the first mountain of maritime scenery’. Since the middle of the Ming Dynasty, Buddhism and Taoism have successively built halls on the mountain. The Yunyan Zen Forest on the mountain, although a Buddhist temple, faces the Taoist Xuanwu Temple. At the foot of the mountain, the Taoist temple also enshrines Buddha statues, reflecting the characteristic of the Chaoshan region where Buddhism and Taoism are not strictly separated. Below the mountain, the pavilions, rock caves, and winding paths are surrounded by the sound of splashing springs and striking stones, creating a melodious sound, hence named ‘Longquan Qin Yun’. There is a teahouse available for tourists to rest. The Qingyun Rock scenic area features eighteen ancient stone caves with lush banyan trees, and the caves are winding and secluded. Lifelike artificial mountains, murals of ancient legends, and various inscriptions of ancestors can be seen everywhere. The scenic area is open all year round from 08:00 to 18:00.
