The Qipanshan Scenic Area in Beijing is one of the sixteen new scenic spots in Beijing and a cultural and creative industry base. According to legend, on the eighth day of the fourth month every year, immortals play chess. The chess pieces fall and become stones, and the chessboard becomes a mountain, hence the name. Aerial photography of Qipanshan shows that the top of the mountain is stable and looks like a chessboard.

The Qipanshan Scenic Area in Wayao, Beijing is a key tourism section of the ancient Baifenggu Road in the valley economy of Beijing. Climbing to the top of Qipanshan (312 meters above sea level), you can look east to the Juyongguan Guankou area and south to the main peak of Miaofeng Mountain. Looking closely at the layout of the ancient village of Wayao, it belongs to a geomantic place like a ‘precious gourd’, reflecting the wisdom of ancestors.

The scenic area is famous for its Taoist temples and ancient temples (the confluence of Buddhism and Taoism). It is also known for its traditional folk customs and ecology of ancient villages in the suburbs of Beijing, as well as its green mountains and deep valleys, exotic villas, and cultural and creative parks.
