The Que Temple, also known as Que Mountain Temple and Que King Temple, is located about 20 kilometers west of Neiqiu County and about 50 kilometers by car from Xingtai City. The temple was built in the Han Dynasty and is a temple with a long history and grand scale commemorating the divine doctor Bian Que. In the Spring and Autumn Period, Bian Que cured the illness of the son of Zhao Jian, a Jin official. To express his gratitude, the official granted this piece of land to Bian Que. So this is the place where Bian Que really lived and is his second hometown. The Que Temple is very large. In addition to commemorating Bian Que, it is also a local Taoist temple. People come here to worship and pray for blessings during festivals every year. The temple is about 300 meters long from north to south and about 120 meters wide. It takes about 2 to 3 hours to tour here. Opposite the gate of the Que Temple, there are nine huge ancient cypresses, also known as Nine Dragon Cypresses. The ancient trees are towering, showing the long history here. Under the ancient cypresses, there is a Resurrection Bridge, which also commemorates the legendary magical medical skill of Bian Que that can bring the dead back to life. At present, many tourists walk on the Resurrection Bridge to pray for health and longevity. After crossing the Resurrection Bridge, they enter the temple. There are many buildings in the temple, including mountain gate, Resurrection Bridge, Que Temple, Bridge Tower Hall, Sanqing Hall, Offering Hall, Sleeping Palace Hall, Yama Temple, Opera Tower, Taoist Courtyard, Baoxia Hall, Later Grandma Temple, Sleeping and Calling Temple, Old Mother Temple, Jade Emperor Hall, Spinning Flower Cave, Laojun Cave, Ghost King Temple, Patriarch Temple, Ox King Temple, Fire God Temple, Hundred Sons Hall and other 28 temple halls. Among them, the Que Temple is the main building, which enshrines the statues of the divine doctor Bian Que and his ten major disciples. In other halls, there are many Taoist statues such as Sanqing, Jade Emperor, and Laojun enshrined one by one for people to worship. In the courtyard, there is also a tomb of Bian Que. According to legend, after Bian Que was killed by the imperial physician of the Qin State, the local people went all the way to Shanxi to steal Bian Que’s head and build a tomb for burial. Therefore, the name of the village here is called ‘Shentou Village’, and people can visit and pay tribute here. Opening hours: Open all year round from 08:30 to 17:30.
