The Quzhou ancient city wall is a large-scale defensive structure that embodies the traditional architectural style of the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is a National Key Cultural Relic Protection Unit, announced on May 25, 2006. The exact time when the Quzhou city wall, which is preserved today, was first constructed is not clearly recorded in historical records, making it difficult to determine. However, it is generally agreed that after the Tang Dynasty, Quzhou officially built a brick and stone city wall. According to the ‘Quzhou Prefecture Annals’ from the Ming Jiajing period, ‘In the fourth year of the Wude era of the Tang Dynasty (621), Quzhou was established as a prefecture.’ The Quzhou city wall is open all year round, with access available 24 hours a day.
