Red-Headed Ship Park is located on the north bank of the Wai Sha River, a tributary of the Han River, covering an area of 304 hectares. The park began construction in February 1999 and was completed in 2002, with an investment of more than 20 million yuan in construction funds. The park showcases the Chaoshan spirit of ‘unity, struggle, expansion, and innovation’. The massive stone sculpture of the ‘Red-Headed Ship’ in the park was created by the renowned Chaozhou sculptor Tang DaXi.

The entire sculpture consists of a platform and the ship body, with the ship’s base being 408 meters long and 10 meters wide. The majestic bow towers 13 meters high, and the towering mast is 28 meters long. The ship’s face of the Red-Headed Ship sculpture is carved from ‘China Red’ stone from Sichuan, the bright ship’s eyes are made from black granite, and the ship’s forehead is engraved with the gold-lettered characters ‘Sea not swelling waves’ and ‘Sail with favorable winds’.

Visitors can climb up the stone steps to the ‘deck’ to overlook the distance, and the beautiful scenery of the Han River Delta can be seen in full view. Chenghai is the hometown of the Red-Headed Ship, where Chaoshan people once crossed the ocean to overseas countries to make a living, multiply, and thrive in unfamiliar lands, and create a prosperous situation through hard work and entrepreneurship.

Today, the Red-Headed Ship has become a symbol of economic and cultural exchanges both at home and abroad. The park is open all year round and is accessible 24/7.
