Hongyan Scenic Area is located in Dongchen Township, Xiangshan Peninsula, on the coast of the East China Sea, covering an area of 5 square kilometers. It is known as the ‘First Cliff and Beach Gallery along the Chinese Coast’. Within the scenic area, there are various types of beaches including rocky beaches, pebble beaches, and sandy beaches, with the unique red beach varying in width and length, undulating gracefully. Over thirty attractions such as Lover’s Stone, Guanyin Wall, and Four Dragons Entering the Sea add to the charm of the place. Among them, the Hongyan Cliff and Beach Gallery is an oceanic landscape gallery and a natural geological museum, making it a golden coast for tourism featuring sightseeing, vacations, hunting, and seafood delicacies. The distinctive feature of Hongyan is the magnificent cliffs and the splendid beaches, forming a unique marine erosion landform landscape. It belongs to the Lower Cretaceous Chaochuan Formation, which is a complex and diverse sedimentary rock with volcanic rocks, predominantly red in color with a variety of other colors, and the shapes are peculiar and distinctive. The area is open year-round from 8:00 to 17:00, subject to the actual situation of the day.
