Located on Miaoqian Street, Longjin West Road, Renwei Ancestral Temple is a Taoist temple dedicated to the worship of Zhenwu Emperor, also known as the Northern Emperor. The temple was originally constructed in the fourth year of the Huangyou era during the Song Dynasty (1052 AD) and has undergone maintenance and expansion through the Ming and Qing dynasties.
The temple’s architecture is solemn and simple, rich in the distinctive characteristics of the Lingnan traditional craftsmanship, making it highly appreciated for its aesthetic and historical value. In 1983, the municipal government declared it a municipal-level cultural relics protection unit. The main structure of Renwei Temple is slightly trapezoidal, with exquisite wood carvings inside the temple. The front door is crafted with wood carvings, adorned with auspicious patterns, and the top features a five-ridge volcanic wall, with the ridge being a pottery figure ridge made by Shiwan Wenru. The wood carvings, stone carvings, and brick carvings each have their unique features, while the pottery and lime sculptures are delicate and powerful, leaving a deep and strong impression on visitors.
