Riguang Rock is formed by two huge rocks standing upright and horizontally against each other. It is the highest peak on Gulangyu Island and one of the viewing spots on the island. Looking around, Xiamen urban area, the entire Gulangyu Island, the sea, and islands like Dadan and Erdan come into full view.
Riguang Rock is located in the south-central part of Gulangyu Island, Xiamen. It is commonly known as “Yan Zai Shan” and also has an alias “Huang Yan”. Legend has it that in 1641, Zheng Chenggong came to Huang Yan. Seeing that the scenery here was more beautiful than Nikkosan in Japan, he split the character and named it “Riguang Rock”.

There is a railing around the top of the rock, which serves as a small viewing platform. It should be noted that there will be a large number of people during the peak season in the daytime. Due to the small size of the viewing platform, it will be very crowded. So if time permits, you can choose to go in the evening when there are fewer tourists and enjoy a different kind of scenery.

There is also a small scenic spot called Riguang Rock Temple in the Riguang Rock Scenic Area. Those who are interested can drop by on the way.
