The grand opening exhibition ‘Rodin: Inheritance and Inspiration of Modern Sculpture’, meticulously prepared by Centre d’Art Rodin (Shanghai) in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, will officially debut on September 28, 2024. The exhibition consists of six main chapters and two special chapters, gathering 106 works including sculptures, paintings, ceramics, and videos. All exhibits are authentic works, among which are national treasure-level collections from the Musée Rodin in France, such as influential and representative works in sculpture art like ‘The Thinker’, ‘The Age of Bronze’, ‘Eve’, ‘Balzac’, and ‘The Burghers of Calais’. Centre d’Art Rodin (Shanghai) in Pudong New Area is a cultural institution authorized by the Musée Rodin in France, owning the ownership of collections and operating independently. It is located in the former French Pavilion of Shanghai Expo Cultural Park and is positioned as a high-end cultural and leisure complex. As a teaching practice base of Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, the center is committed to providing high-quality cultural services to the public through activities such as holding exhibitions of authentic cultural relics at the museum level at home and abroad, forums, seminars, and lectures, to meet the cultural needs of Shanghai citizens for a better life. The main building of the center is transformed from the French Pavilion of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo designed by the famous French architect Jacques Ferrier. Covering an area of more than 8,000 square meters, it has an exhibition space of 4,200 square meters. Its unique architectural structure allows the audience to enter the venue from all sides, bringing art closer to the public and making it an open, connected, and warm cultural and art center.
