Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida is located in the central part of the Macau Peninsula. It is also known as Avenida da Holanda and Rua da Holanda. The road runs in a northeast-southwest direction. The southern end connects Rua do Campo and Rua do Padre António at the junction of Avenida Almirante Lacerda. The northern end reaches Avenida do Coronel Mesquita. It is an important north-south passage on the Macau Peninsula.
From the late 19th century to the early 20th century, eight two-story noble residences and schools were built in this area. It is a representative architectural complex under the influence of Macau’s neoclassical style and is known as ‘Eight Houses’. These eight houses include the current Cultural Affairs Bureau, Historical Archives, Tap Seac Gallery, and Ricci Institute. Open all year round and open all day.
