Sai Jinhua’s Former Residence, also known as Guiyuan, is a restored Hui-style garden on the site of her former home. It is located on the way from Yixian to Hongcun. If you are interested in cultural attractions, it is worth a visit. The scenic area features Sai Jinhua’s Former Residence, the Sai Jinhua Memorial Hall, and the garden ‘Guiyuan’, which was a gift from a wealthy merchant to Sai Jinhua. The Memorial Hall displays a vast collection of historical materials and photographs of Sai Jinhua from various periods, as well as evaluations of her by famous figures such as Liu Bannong, Lu Xun, and Xia Yan. Here, you can learn about the favor Sai Jinhua received among the powerful during the late Qing Dynasty, her contributions to protecting the nation during the Eight-Nation Alliance’s invasion of China, and her bitter old age. Walking through the garden, you can catch glimpses of the rural scenery through the lattice windows, and from the peak of the artificial hill ‘Songyi Peak’, you can overlook the entire garden. The main scenic spots in the garden include Pear Blossoms with the Moon, Twin Bridges Cutting Spring, Quiet Fishing, Distant Wind Songyi, and Green Beauty Surrounding.
