The former site of the Naval Hotel, also known as the German Sailors’ Club, began construction in May 1901 and was completed the following year. It is one of the representative buildings of early German architecture in Qingdao. This is a three-story building with a penthouse and a basement, featuring the German Neo-Renaissance style. The foundation is made of granite, with the main entrance facing south, a large sloped roof, and exposed wood decorations on the eaves. The first floor has an east-west auditorium with an area of approximately 300 square meters, about 15 meters high, and a domed ceiling. The asymmetrical layout enriches the building’s silhouette. Currently, part of the building is used by office units, while the other part is rented by businesses and inhabited by residents. The building is open all year round, with exterior access available at all times.
