Xiaosha Town in Dinghai District is home to numerous cultural relics and historical sites, such as Fuweng Hall and Tianhou Palace, among which San Mao’s Ancestral Home in Chenjia Village is one of the more famous ones. San Mao’s Ancestral Home was built in 1921 by Mr. Chen Zongxu, the grandfather of the renowned female writer San Mao. The five main rooms of the ancestral home have been converted into the San Mao Memorial Room, featuring themes such as ‘A Life Full of Legendary Adventures’, ‘San Mao’s Works that Charmed the World’, ‘Journeys Through Rivers and Mountains’, ‘Family, Love, Friendship, and Hometown’, and ‘Missing You! San Mao’. The exhibition displays San Mao’s relics, various editions of her works, photos from different periods, and articles by people from China and abroad who remember San Mao. Many precious exhibits shown in the exhibition room are imbued with San Mao’s deep feelings of homesickness and patriotism. The opening hours are from 08:00 to 16:30 all year round.
