The temple is located at the southern foot of Lingfeng Mountain in Tingpang Town, Sanmen County, which is part of the Tiantai Mountain range. It extends eastward into the East China Sea, with deep forests and secluded valleys, a place of extraordinary natural beauty and talent. It was originally constructed in the sixth year of the Yuanjia period during the Southern and Northern Dynasties under Emperor Zongwen (AD 424), and has a history of more than 1590 years.
