Sanping Scenic Area is located in Pinghe County, Fujian Province. It is 47 kilometers away from Zhangzhou City and 30 kilometers away from Pinghe County. It includes the main scenic spot Sanping Temple and the Turtle and Snake Peak, Tiger Running Spring, Monk Pool, Maodi Cave, Tiger Forest, Longrui Waterfall and other scenic spots outside and at the back of the temple. The tour sequence in Sanping Temple is ‘Drum Tower – Mahavira Hall – Lord Qielan Hall – King Kaizhang Hall – Ksitigarbha Hall – Ancestral Hall – Supervisory Dining Hall – Tiger Climbing Spring – Pagoda Hall’.


Among them, the two corridors on both sides of the Mahavira Hall are opposite. On the right corridor wall is embedded the stele inscription of the reconstruction of Sanping Temple engraved during the Qianlong period. As for the Ancestral Hall, there is a long corridor in front of the hall. Pilgrims must enter the long corridor through the side door to reach here. In the hall, there is a statue of Yizhong, which was carved from camphor wood in the Qing Dynasty.


It is more than one meter high. The joints of the statue can move and are unique. The Pagoda Hall is the last entrance of Sanping Temple and also the highest place of Sanping Temple. The base of the Pagoda Hall is two meters high with double eaves and there are steps on both sides. In the middle of the hall, there is a relatively smooth terrazzo cage. There is a seated statue. The statue is beautifully shaped, wearing a monk’s hat and a kasaya, with a kind and amiable face.


After visiting Sanping Temple, you can visit other scenic spots in Sanping Scenic Area. For example, Tiger Running Spring at the back of Sanping Temple or Maodi Cave in the southeast of the temple or Longrui Waterfall one kilometer south of the temple. The scenic spots are not far away and can be reached on foot. It mainly depends on whether tourists want to be close to water or see some cultural landscapes.


Maodi Cave is said to be the place where hairy people lived. However, these scenic spots are not as good as Sanping Temple. They are all small scenic spots for incidental visits. If you just want to walk around, the environment is very good. Many tourists also leave after worshipping in Sanping Temple. After all, this is the main purpose of Sanping Scenic Area. When tired from playing, you can go to Sanping Renjia at the foot of the mountain for a meal.


According to tourists, this place and the dishes are good. It is for the reference of tourists who want to eat here.

2. For the time being, chanting scriptures and other large-scale folk belief inheritance and display activities are not carried out.


3. The statue of Sanping Patriarch is placed at the temple gate. An offering table is placed in the large courtyard in front of the gate for tourists to place offerings. Believers uniformly light candles and burn incense in this area for worship. Offerings, candles, incense, gold paper, firecrackers and so on are not allowed to enter indoor places for the time being. Indoor places are strictly prohibited from fireworks.
