Located at the border stream between Zhouling Township and Yangxi Township, Sanqiao Bridge is one of the famous TaiShun covered bridges. Named after the three massive wooden logs that originally spanned the river, it was constructed in the Song Dynasty, specifically on the 13th day of the ninth month of the Shaoxing seventh year (1137 AD), and was reconstructed in the 23rd year of the Daoguang Emperor (1843 AD) as a multi-beam wooden arched covered bridge. The bridge measures 26.63 meters in length, 4 meters in width, and stands 10 meters above the water surface. It features 11 bridge houses, with five columns and beams in the central compartment, and the column heads are adorned with butterfly-shaped lotus petal head arches.
The bridge has a long history. According to the records in ‘Fenjiang Lu’ of TaiShun, during the construction in the Daoguang era, Tang Dynasty ‘Zhenguan’ era tiles were discovered, marking it as one of the earliest documented bridges in TaiShun County. The bridge is exquisite and beautiful, with a long-standing history, and it has been included in ‘Ancient Chinese Scientific and Technological Achievements’. It serves as one of the hundred patriotism education series books, showcasing the intelligence and ancient bridge-building achievements of the laborers of TaiShun County. The bridge is open all year round, accessible 24 hours a day.Sanqiao Bridge
