Sanqingshan Scenic Area, located in the northeastern part of Shangrao City, is known as the ‘Little Yellow Mountain’. It is named after the three towering peaks of Yujing, Yuxu, and Yuhua, which resemble the three supreme deities of Taoism—Yuqing, Shangqing, and Taiqing—sitting atop the mountain. This is a famous Taoist mountain with a fairy-like atmosphere, where you can witness beautiful sea of clouds and sunrise, appreciate the lifelike strange rocks in the mountains, and walk on the high-altitude plank road to enjoy the scenery.

Popular Scenic Areas:
#Nanqing Garden Scenic Area# This is where the natural wonders of Sanqingshan are concentrated. Several of the iconic landscapes of Sanqingshan, such as the Giant Python Exiting the Mountain and the Oriental Goddess, are located here. The Liuxia Platform in the scenic area is a good place to enjoy the sunset and sea of clouds. The sunrise and sunset at Yutai are very charming. In May and June, you can also enjoy the blooming of azaleas in the Azalea Valley. Most tourists choose to visit here in the afternoon. Starting from the Liuxia Platform, down to Youxian Valley, passing through the One Line Sky’s 299 steps in a downhill manner, feeling the danger of the towering mountains, and enjoying the sunset and sunset clouds in the evening.
#Oriental Goddess# The Oriental Goddess is located in the northeast of the Nanqing Garden Scenic Area of Sanqingshan. It resembles a young girl with long hair flowing down her shoulders, with a peaceful expression, standing upright for thousands of years, and is very lifelike. It can be seen after taking the Jinsha Cableway (East Cableway) to the mountain and is one of the must-see sights of Sanqingshan.
#Giant Python Exiting the Mountain# The Giant Python Exiting the Mountain is a natural rock pillar formed by long-term weathering and the action of gravity. The peak wall is steep, the top is slightly flat, and the neck is slightly thinner, just like a giant python breaking out of the mountain, which can be regarded as a masterpiece of nature. It is opposite to the Oriental Goddess and can be appreciated during the journey from the Jinsha Cableway (East Cableway) to the Nanqing Garden Scenic Area. In addition, the strange peaks and rocks such as Yu Nu Kai Huai, Monkey King Presents Treasures, Old Taoist Worships the Moon, Guanyin Enjoys Music, Ge Hong Presents Elixir, Divine Dragon Plays with Pines, Three Dragons Exiting the Sea, and Sea Lion Swallowing the Moon are all beautiful scenery of the Sanqingshan Scenic Area. When visiting, don’t forget to use your imagination to feel the miracle of nature’s creation.
#Sanqing Blessing Scenic Area# The essence of Taoism in Sanqingshan is in this scenic area. With Sanqing Palace as the core, it gathers the Taoist cultural landscapes of Sanqingshan and can be called an ‘open-air museum’ of Taoist ancient architecture. Among them, the well-preserved Song Dynasty small stone pagoda built on the cliff is exquisite in appearance and its location is also amazing. In addition to appreciating Taoist culture, this is also a good place to enjoy the scenery. Fenglei Tower is a good place to watch the sunrise and sea of clouds. Feixian Platform is a good place to enjoy the sunset and sunset clouds.
#West Coast Scenic Area# The West Coast Scenic Area is an open platform for viewing Sanqingshan. The amazing high-altitude plank road is also located here. Walking on the high-altitude plank road, you can feel the pleasure of walking leisurely on the cliff, enjoy the spectacular scenery of continuous peaks and deep canyons, and also enjoy the gorgeous beauty of sunset and sea of clouds from a distance.
#Yujing Peak Scenic Area# The Yujing Peak Scenic Area is famous for the three peaks of Yujing, Yuxu, and Yuhua standing towering. Among them, the sea of clouds, sunrise, and sunset at Yujing Peak are magnificent. It is also a good place to overlook the beautiful scenery of the entire Sanqingshan Scenic Area. However, due to the steepness of the mountain peaks, it is not recommended for tourists to climb to the top of Yujing Peak. After all, safety is important.
#Wanshou Garden Scenic Area# This is a very symbolic scenic area in the Sanqingshan Scenic Area, located on the southern foot of Sanqingshan. Here, the theme is auspicious longevity culture. The statue of the God of Longevity is the landmark landscape here. Strolling among them and admiring landscapes such as Guanyin Platform, Bai Tou Xie LaoThe Nanqing Garden on the east side is a circle, gathering landmark strange rocks such as ‘Oriental Goddess’ and ‘Python Emerging from the Mountain’. The almost vertical ‘One-Line Sky’ steep steps are also here. The two circles intersect near Risheng Mountain Villa – Jade Emperor Peak, forming a figure ‘8’. There are also Sandongkou, Xihuatai, and Shiguling further away, but fewer people go there.

The itinerary arrangement of Sanqingshan largely depends on whether you want to see the sunrise or where you want to see the sunrise. If you want to see the sunrise, you can almost only stay overnight on the mountain. If you don’t plan to stay overnight on the mountain, you can choose to visit one of the areas according to your own preferences. Or turn around most of the outer part of the figure ‘8’ and visit most of the essence scenic spots.

#Classic One-Day Route#
More tourists go up the mountain from the Jinsha ropeway in the east. As soon as they come up, it is the essence of Nanqing Garden. It takes about half an hour to walk to ‘Python Emerging from the Mountain’. Not far to the left is the ‘Oriental Goddess’. Going westward through Jade Emperor Peak and ‘Three Dragons Emerging from the Sea’ and walking on the high-altitude plank road of the Sunshine Coast, you can overlook the idyllic scenery below. The Sunshine Coast and the subsequent Sanqing Blessed Land – West Coast just form a circular tourist route. The Taoist ancient architectural complex in the Sanqing Blessed Land takes Sanqing Palace as the core and is laid out according to the orientation of the ‘innate bagua diagram’, which is very exquisite. Among them, Fenglei Tower is a place where many tourists scramble to take photos. Take a break here and continue forward to the high-altitude plank road of the West Coast. Near the place where the plank road is close to Sanqing Palace, ‘Monkey King Presenting Treasure’ is also one of the strange rocks in the mountain. In the afternoon, it is just right to watch the sea of clouds and sunset glow of Sanqingshan on the plank road.
