The Shandong Post and Telecommunications Museum is located at No. 77 Jing San Road, inside the China Unicom Shandong Branch. It is the first state-owned industry-themed museum in Jinan City. The museum building itself is a cultural relic, a century-old small building whose beautiful exterior is an artwork in itself.
The museum’s overall structure is of brick and wood, with exterior corners adorned with stone slabs, a roof covered with red tiles, wooden flooring, a main body of two stories above ground, a partial third story as an attic, and a basement. The internal load-bearing structure is all wooden, and the exterior uses red bricks interspersed with stone details. The museum houses a collection of over 200 postal and communication artifacts and more than 400 photographs. Visitors can learn about the history of ancient and modern postal and communication development through the beacon towers and post station videos, Morse code sending and receiving interactive experiences, and LED displays. They can also experience the new achievements of modern communication technology through location services, video surveillance, the Internet of Things, and smart cities. The museum exhibition is divided into three main parts, each corresponding to the layout of the museum building, with one part per floor. The first floor’s theme is ‘Millennium of Postal Transmission, Century of Communication’, featuring postal artifacts before the founding of the People’s Republic of China on October 1, 1949. The second floor’s theme is ‘The World of Communication, Keeping Pace with the Times’. It mainly displays telegraph and telephone equipment from various periods, as well as various types and functions of communication and related equipment, essentially showcasing the history of telecommunications. The third floor’s theme is ‘The Future for Free Interconnection’, showcasing modern communication equipment related to the ‘Internet of Things’, with a focus on demonstration. Opening hours are all year round, Tuesday to Friday, 08:00-11:30 and 14:00-17:00. Please note that the specific business status is subject to the day’s opening conditions. Essential Tips: The museum does not receive individual visitors; it only receives group visits and requires advance booking.Shandong Post and Telecommunications Museum
