Shandong University’s Qingdao Campus is located in Aoshanwei Town, Jimo District, Qingdao City, and serves as one of the campuses established by Shandong University in Qingdao. It currently houses eight colleges: the School of Political Science and Public Administration, Law School, School of Information Science and Engineering, School of Computer Science and Technology, College of Life Sciences, College of Environmental Science and Engineering, International Innovation and Translation College, and the School of Cyber Security. The campus planning covers a total area of 3000 acres, with 720 acres designated for faculty housing. On March 17, 2012, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Shandong University’s Qingdao Campus was held with great fanfare.
The campus is divided into three phases of construction. The first phase, with a planned total investment of 3.5 billion yuan and a construction area of 700,000 square meters, was initiated in 2016 to accommodate the learning, living, and teaching research needs of 10,000 students and 2,000 faculty and staff. The second phase, with a total construction area of approximately 493,900 square meters, was planned to start in 2016 and complete in 2018. The third phase, with a total construction area of about 166,800 square meters, was scheduled to start in 2018 and finish in 2020. Upon completion, the campus will be able to accommodate around 25,000 students and approximately 4,000 faculty and staff.
