“A Dream of Hua Xu – Chinese Shadow Puppetry and Light Art Exhibition” makes its debut at the World Expo Museum on May 1, 2024 after a successful global tour. The exhibition not only presents the artistic achievements of traditional shadow puppetry from multiple perspectives but also utilizes digital technology to revitalize this thousand-year-old art form in a contemporary immersive light and shadow exhibition hall. Historical and literary figures such as the Monkey King Sun Wukong, the Sleeping Dragon Zhuge Liang, and the Warrior Wu Song freely traverse through a dreamlike and picturesque shadow puppet wonderland known as the “Land of Hua Xu.” The exhibition invites you to embark on a resplendent Hua Xu dream outlined by the aesthetics of shadow puppetry. Opening hours are from May 1st to October 31st, Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00 – 17:00; closed all day on Mondays; open on New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, Labor Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day, 09:00 – 17:00. Concessions are available for students: minors under 18 and full-time undergraduate students and below with a valid student ID; senior citizens: those aged 60 and above; active military personnel and their families: with valid documents; public security police: with valid documents; martyrs and military dependents: with valid documents; free for fire and rescue personnel: with valid documents.
