The beauty of art lies in its ability to express and name the intangible in silence. The exhibition ‘The Moment of Naming’ showcases how 22 artists use art to rename unique life experiences. These artists have experienced ‘the moment of naming’ and reshaped the given language. When most languages (written and visual) have been tamed and functionalized by systems, the responsibility of artists is to revitalize language and perception. Artists reflect and create their own artistic language, even languages that did not exist in the original art system. The moment of naming is also the moment of re-perceiving, experiencing the state before words and concepts take shape. This is a re-examination, reflection, and polishing of language, as well as a preparation for future language (Words for the Future). The exhibition will unfold in different chapters, including exploring the ‘silent secrets’ of language, discussing the ‘necessary angles’ of gaze, observing the ‘hidden order’ of the body, opening the ‘dialects of the heart’ through inner windows, and broadening the horizon with ‘the touch of the earth’. Books from the ASE Art Library will also be an important part of this exhibition. ‘The Moment of Naming’ encourages artists to rethink common words from written to visual language, allowing the imprisoned thinking within words to stretch and become vibrant again. How to rename these life experiences is a process of understanding (art) language and mastering the right to name. Once unfamiliar life experiences are named, they become new paths. ‘The Moment of Naming’ invites you to open your understanding of the world and jointly name your own life experiences, seeing vast lands. The exhibition is open from November 6th to February 28th, with specific business hours subject to the day’s opening status.
