The Shanghai Baoshan International Folk Art Expo Hall is currently the only cultural and artistic venue in China that takes displaying folk art and folk culture of various countries and ethnic groups around the world as its theme. It is a public welfare public cultural facility integrating functions such as collection and display, interaction and exchange, inheritance research, and serving society.
It has four major characteristics: internationality, artistry, technology, and interactivity. The Folk Art Expo Hall was completed and opened on October 16, 2010. The exterior design concept is derived from the folk cultural image of ‘Chinese knot’, with a total construction area of 14,600 square meters. The Folk Art Expo Hall is also a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, the first batch of demonstration projects of the national public cultural service system, a Shanghai intangible cultural heritage protection and inheritance base, and a Shanghai science popularization base.
