This exhibition aligns with this year’s International Museum Day theme of ‘Museums for Education and Research’, featuring the Guanfu Cats as cultural ambassadors, ‘entering’ into famous Chinese historical figure paintings, embodying the characters within, and standing in the scenes, using a more relaxed and entertaining approach to achieve educational purposes in culture and aesthetics. Guanfu Cats are a group of real cats living in the Guanfu Museum. The ‘Guanfu Cats Entering Ancient Paintings’ series is a secondary creation by the Guanfu team based on historical facts in the paintings. This series selects famous ancient Chinese figure paintings and replaces them with suitable cat curators from the Guanfu Cats troupe to play ancient characters, using Guanfu Museum’s collection of artifacts as ‘props’, skillfully blending with the atmosphere of the ancient paintings. The cat curators ‘enter’ the paintings to perform the ancient Chinese ‘elegant gatherings’, allowing the audience to easily feel the profoundness and vitality of Chinese culture. This exhibition features nearly 70 pieces of museum collections that echo the ‘elegant gatherings’ in the paintings. The exhibition is open from May 18th to May 11th, with specific business hours subject to the day’s opening status.
