This exhibition will present sixteen newly created paintings by Corcorde. Their inspiration comes from the artist’s recent residency experience and insights on the Greek island of Paxos. The works are themed on fishermen: from their closely intertwined lifestyle with the sea to their ancestral beliefs and marine myths. These creations not only show the unpredictability and variability of the sea but also deeply reveal our dynamic relationship with the sea. However, the ethnic groups that guard this relationship are often long overlooked. ‘The Joy of Fish’ showcases Corcorde’s constantly evolving painting vocabulary. The combination of rough and swaying brushstrokes with the rich and dense colors of oil pastels makes the entire narrative picture both full of vitality and affinity. His works cleverly combine line drawing and painted drawing in painting, highlighting the immediacy and popular expressive power contained in painting. Along with the flexible painting techniques, these paintings discussing human and non-human themes reflect the artist’s continuous research and interest in figurative expression.
Opening hours: November 8 – December 21. The specific business status is subject to the opening situation on that day.
