Shanghai Lihe Foreign Firm, also known as Carlowitz Harkort & Co., is one of the earliest foreign firms established by German merchants in China. The Lihe Foreign Firm building, constructed in 1898, serves as the office building for the firm. It is a four-story brick and wood structure, with a fifth level in the form of an attic. The exterior walls are made of red brick with clear water finish (the ground floor walls are now covered with thick-quality exterior wall paint), and adorned with natural stone carvings. The opening hours and business status are subject to the day’s actual opening conditions.
