One of the ethnic culture museums in Shanghai’s universities, it covers a total construction area of 1036 square meters, houses a collection of 40,000 specimens, over 3,000 species, and exhibits more than 1,000 species. The museum’s treasure, a sperm whale, stands prominently at the center of the museum as soon as you enter, with its white skeleton beside it. It is said that this exhibition hall was specially built for this sperm whale specimen, which is quite an honor.
The length of this sperm whale specimen and its skeleton is 18.4 meters, making it one of the larger sperm whale specimens in the country. Opening hours are from March 1st to June 30th, Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00-11:00 and 13:00-16:00; from September 1st to December 31st, 09:00-11:00 and 13:00-16:00. For individual visitors: Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00-11:00 and 13:00-16:00 during March to June and September to December (excluding legal holidays).
