SMP Skateboard Park in Shanghai is a Guinness World Record-certified skateboard park. The park covers an area of 13,700 square meters and was completed in 2005. The designer of the park, Simon, has 30 years of skateboarding experience and is one of the competitive skateboarders in Australia. The park features three competition areas: the bowl, the U-shape area, and the street course, each with varying difficulty levels to cater to the needs of different skill levels. Currently, there are over 2,800 skateboard parks in the United States, more than 1,000 in Australia, and a combined total of 2,000 to 3,000 in other regions, with these numbers growing daily. There are many large bowls around the world, but the innovative design of Shanghai’s bowl lies in the fact that there is a 6-meter diameter 360-degree pipe between the two bowls. This unique design allows athletes to gain speed, helping them to complete a 360-degree spin inside the pipe. This is a very difficult move, and it was not until 2003 that a Brazilian named Bob Burnqurst completed it. Currently, there are no more than 10 top skateboarders in the world who can perform this move. The deep bowl and pipe are both made of granite material, with a very smooth surface, which is rare in the world. These features and settings are attractive and will help skateboarders achieve high-level challenges. The street course covers 4,000 square meters, and the surrounding area includes facilities such as steps, seating, and green belts, covering a total area of approximately 7,500 square meters. The park is open all year round from 10:00 to 18:00, with specific business hours subject to the park’s daily opening status.
