Established in 1986, the Shanghai Theatre Academy Experimental Theatre is an important venue for large-scale teaching and teaching practice at the Shanghai Theatre Academy. It is also one of the main venues for various large-scale events and international cultural exchange performances in Shanghai.
The main building area of the theatre is 5844 square meters, with a theatre square of 1200 square meters. The stage is structured in a proscenium style. Equipped with 40 digital frequency conversion hoists, the stage has lighting and sound control systems that utilize advanced digital equipment from both international and domestic sources, and features spacious left and right wings.
The auditorium has a seating capacity of 910 seats. In addition to its performance functions, the theatre also houses a lighting teaching laboratory, a scenery painting room, and a VIP reception room.
