This exhibition marks the first collaboration between the Shanghai Museum and an artist in designing the exhibition layout, with the artist Cai Guoqiang and his team developing an artificial intelligence model named cAI (pronounced AI Cai) to serve as the exhibition’s visual director. Under the guidance of the artist and his team, cAI creates an immersive experience that blends visual and emotional elements for the audience, exploring new frontiers in the partnership between human craftsmanship and AI creativity.

‘Full Courtyard Fragrance: The Artistic Magic of Cartier’ is a reunion between Cartier’s collection and the Shanghai Museum, following their first collaboration on a Chinese-themed exhibition in 2004. The Shanghai Museum’s curatorial team has selected over three hundred pieces from Cartier’s collection, along with more than 30 Chinese artifacts that engage in dialogue with them. Through six major sections titled ‘Glorious Totems’, ‘All Things Are Alive’, ‘Boundless Creativity’, ‘Astonishing Beauty’, ‘Timeless Rules’, and ‘A Drop of Prosperity’, the exhibition delves into Cartier’s extraordinary craftsmanship and imagination. It also discusses how Cartier’s artistic creations draw rich inspiration from Chinese culture and stimulate Cartier’s artistic endeavors.

The exhibition is open from November 6th to February 17th, with specific business hours subject to the day’s opening status.
