Shangqing Ancient Town has a history of over a thousand years. It is part of the Longhu Mountain Scenic Area and is located 25 kilometers away from Yingtan City. The town is built along the water and surrounded by mountains, boasting a beautiful natural environment.
There are numerous historical sites and landmarks in the ancient town. Along the approximately 2-kilometer-long Shangqing Ancient Street, you can find attractions such as Changqing Square, Liuhou Family Temple, Tianshi Mansion, Liuhou Residence, Tianyuan De Pharmacy, and the Catholic Church.
The riverside is lined with stilt houses and boat docks, giving the town a distinct Jiangnan water town style. On the eastern side of the town, there are Shangqing Palace and Dongyue Palace. Across the Luxi River, there is Guizhou Village, the hometown of the Ming Dynasty’s Prime Minister Xia Yan, and the place where the Red Eleventh Army and the Central Red Army met.
About 4 kilometers from the ancient town, there is the Tianmen Mountain Ecological Tourist Area, which features primeval forests, waterfall clusters, and some ancient dwellings. The entire area is open all year round and accessible 24/7.
