Located at the eastern entrance and exit of Shantou Port, in the sea area of Ma Yu Island, the Shantou Bay Bridge is a cross-sea highway bridge. The bridge spans across the Shoushan Sea, with a total length of 2500 meters. It consists of three parts: the south is a prestressed reinforced concrete cable-stayed bridge with a large main span over the Huangshawan South Channel; the north is a prestressed reinforced concrete beam bridge over the North Channel; and the middle part is a prestressed viaduct over Ma Yu Island. The main span of the bridge has a clear navigation width of 452 meters and a clear navigation height of 46 meters, allowing passage for 50,000-ton class vessels. This bridge is an ancillary facility for the first-grade automobile expressway between Shenzhen and Shantou, and it serves as a land traffic link connecting the four economic special zones of Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Shantou, and Xiamen.
